Ken Continues The Heavy Hitters!! - Bioshock Infinite

Yet another tease of yet another heavy hitter! This time part 4 has Ken talking about Sirens.

I thought this new Bioshock was going to be tough after seeing parts 1-3 of the new class of enemy but this is getting ridiculous!  This Bioshock is already worthy of the title Infinite, Infinitely Hard!

How many new bad guys does Ken Levine need!!! Let alone a foe that can resurrect other enemies you've just killed.

I'll paint a picture for you; You're under heavy fire, there is a Handyman and/or mulitple Motorized Patriots plus a hored of angry Columbians (ex splicers) trying to take you out. You are down to your last few rounds of ammunition and have exhausted that final tonic but you beaten them! Pure elation surges through your body and you sigh with relief but then... The Siren appears! FUCK!!!

All of those bastards rise to her necromancing lullaby and you have to start from scratch! The Siren will add another layer of difficulty and complexity. It could turn any ordinary situation into a cluster fuck.

According to Irrational Games the Siren is the last of the heavy hitters but seeing how inventive Ken and this team have been I'm still expecting a few big surprises.

No Comments.....

I thought I'd write another self serving post;

Interests of one, as a blog, is in it's infancy and I may have generated a minute amount of content for people of the world wide web to peruse but I have had no comments, no form of feedback, nothing, nadda, diddly squat. Not even the trolls are bothered! I thought I might of had something by now +300 views and not even one comment.

My friend at work has frequently teased the fact that he could be the very first to comment. That would be   a sort of pity comment. Not really what I'm aiming for.

You might ask why do I need comments? Why I am even writing a blog post about it?! They aren't important are they? Just other peoples opinions, it won't effect what I choose to blog about, will it?

However I believe comments are required, they are important. Comments allow a dialog between the reader and the writer and even readers with other readers. Comments can give the writer valuable feedback on content they have posted about. It tells me if a post is popular or not. It could even influence what I may chose to blog about in the future. I just need to know people are out there and they like or dislike what I stick up on the blog.

If you have an opinion on a post, leave a comment below!

Heavy Hitting Continued.....

Irrational Games continues to tease us with Bioshock Infinite details....

In my previous post on the heavy hitters of Bioshock I covered the Songbird and Motorized Patriots and mentioned the Handymen. But now Irrational Games have released some more details on their Heavy Hitter preview series, Part 2 and 3 are now available (see above). The Handymen look like a force to reckoned with but my real concern is with these Boys of Silence. They look like the devil had a wild night with a couple of trumpets and spawned a musical nightmare. The name also provokes all sorts of worried feelings about what they could be capable of. Boys of Silence....very eerie.

Print Your Own Home

3D printing is all the rage right now, you can pretty much print what you like....Now even a house!

Printing in 3D seems to be the future and it's looking like it's going to have a pretty big impact on future building construction.

If this demonstration of printing in concrete is anything to go by. We will soon have architects finalising their floor plans on the PC and clicking print. Just like you would a word document.

This technology could very well be the answer to the housing crisis in the UK. It could produce high quality homes, being built at a fraction of the price and in half the time.

But it's real impact could be to the developing world and rebuilding war torn/ natural disaster hit countries.

The future is coming and printed in 3D!!

OpenELEC and Raspberry Pi

We all know that Raspberry Pi is miniature piece of hardware wonderfulness. Its technological potential is only limited by the users imagination.

OpenELEC has come up with a real gem. They have created an Open Embedded Linux Entertainment Center, OpenELEC, which for the first time has been ported to ARM based technology. It's a linux distribution built from scratch that provides a platform to turn your Raspberry Pi into a complete Xbox Media Centre (XBMC).

Download this piece of linux software onto a USB and then connect to your Raspberry Pi. Boot from the USB and you are served up XBMC in all it's home media centre glory.

This software is free so combined with the Berry tech you have a home media center for £30!!

Big Daddies, Big Sisters, Big Birds and Heavy Hitters - Bioshock

There was nothing quite like that first encounter with the original heavy hitting Big Daddy. Ill equipped and nervous you have to down the enraged beast to get your hands on that sweet adam.

That sense of uncertainty and very real feeling of helplessness. It was the fear that Bioshock would provoke that made the game so playable.

You may have thought how could the developers at irrationalgames top the Big Daddy?

Cue Bioshock 2 and the introduction of the Big Sister.

That blood curdling screech would never fail to make me shit my pants and send my balls back into a pre pubescent state.

It was the battles with these super-beings  that made Bioshock so outstanding.

Now Bioshock Infinite has been dated for release (16th Oct 2012) more and more details are being released about the type of game it will be.

It appears the Big Daddies and Big Sisters have gone. So what maniac creations will we have instead?

Big Birds... The new Big Daddy is the Songbird

Can this winged beast also send me into that same regressed state? I really hope so.

In Bioshock 1&2 you only really had to contend with the one type of over powered foe.

In Infinite you will have to battle the Songbird but they have also added the Handyman

The Handyman is a human artificially bonded to a mechanical suit,  pre Big Daddy design maybe?!
And now the recently announced Motorized Patriots! It would appear they are all part of a new series of enemy known as 'heavy hitters' and they are very much that.

Ken Levine talks Patriots:

All in all things are shaping up nicely for October time. Will I be needing the adult diapers? It's looking like it and I wouldn't have it any other way. Keep it up Ken!

The Champ is Here! - iPad 3

Apple's new third generation iPad has been announced

The tablet world heavy weight champion is back, tipping the scales a few grams heavier but coming back stronger, smarter and faster.

See the video for all the iPad goodness.

Google Play

Google Play the all in one, stop and shop for content.

Google have introduced their new service which will be your centralised hub for music, books, movies, apps and games. This new repository replaces the Android app store, Google music, Google books and now adds movies.

The Googles big selling point is the instant syncing of all your content within the cloud. Start a movie online and then finish it on your Android device while waiting at the bus stop, buy a book on your phone and continue reading it on your desktop. Essentially what Google has done is what Apple has been doing since October 2011 with the introduction of iOS 5 and iCloud. At least now Android users have the love.

You have to wonder why is it called Google Play? Very odd branding from the big G, it sounds like a streaming service akin Netflix or Lovefilm. Google Play is also an online store for books, apps and games. You don't play a book or app... I think there is potential for confusion with the end user.

Only time will tell if Google Play will be a success, it does finally detangle the Google content spider web.

iBeerOpener - intoxicase

IMG_1155

A very cool example of high tech meets low tech. The real world application is obvious. The guys at intoxicase have made the iPhone into the most sophisticated bottle opener in the world.

I have been meaning to get a new case of my iPhone. Anyone fancy a beer?

iPad 3 - 7th March 6PM (UK)

ipad 3 crop
And sell soul for.

So today is the day. The new shiny thing from Apple is being announced 6PM (GMT - UK) on the 7th March.

It will be faster, better, blah, blah and have an increased smug factor of 11. The iPad 3 will no doubt be incredible, do everything we fans want (but not quite enough so we can justify buying the next shiny thing in 8-12months).
I do have a theory though, we all need Steve Jobs, Apple needs Steve Jobs, Steve Jobs sadly is dead. Who will say, 'And one last thing!' Problem? No, Tim Cook has the answer:  The iPad 3 is the greatest of all inventions. This tech beast will harvest the souls of individuals purchasing it. These souls will then, seamlessly sync to the iCloud. Then channelled into a Goa'uld type sarcophagus containing the body of Steve Jobs. There he will be regenerated (iGenerated) just in time to launch the iPhone 5.

I'll probably still consider buying one, Steve Jobs was a good guy, I'd like to help

This is a self serving post

Monetise Monetise Montise

Blogging about the technology and other bits and bobs that become the interests of oneself is the purpose.

However with the online world being powered by the advertisers demon muscles there is a sense that you must also partake therefore in the bloggers world this mean monetisation.

Monetise Monetise Montise

For this blog to 'SHOW ME THE MONEY!' I need to babble on and on and on.... Maybe someone will read this, maybe many. Like I said this is self serving, I put stuff on here that interests me. The problem is Adsense, the tool to give back to the little people or so the big G will have you believe. However to take advantage I need to provide content that they can scan, analyse and dissect so they can serve ads that pin point my readers. However I dont have enough content so adsense won't work. There is another issue, probably more fundamental to the whole process; who the fuck is going to read my blog, share what interests me. The answer is likely no one...

Essentially I'm fucked

Games of Interest - IOO CAF Awards

There are a number of games that interest me. These blockbusters may or may not surface in 2012 but either way they are games that get IOO (InterestsOfOne) CAF (Cool As Fuck) Award.

In no particular order of CAF......

GTA V

MGS Rising - CAF Slicing

Hitman: Absolution - Choose your poison

BioShock Infinite - Sky Rapture

Each of these games will be massive, 100+ hours of CAF fun

iConcept (iPad 3) - Sells soul in the process

Next week Apple will drop another piece of fruity goodness upon the gadget loving community, while it will no doubt be a huge success, with thousands selling their souls for this next piece of must have tech. I doubt it will ever be as cool as this concept by aatmo studio (http://www.youtube.com/user/AatmaStudio)

If the iPad 3 was capable of this I'd be the first to knock of the devil's door.

Gift of Scott - Prometheus

The greek titan Prometheus gave mankind fire, now the Hollywood titan Ridley Scott gives mankind Prometheus.

This so called prequel is to one of the greatest science fiction creations of all time. Alien

Ridley Scott has suggested that the film will be set in the Alien universe but it will be a stand alone film and not prequel.

Peter Weyland on his vision of the future;

Anything remotely connected to the Alien concept is pretty cool (Even Alien 3)

Release date: June
